Description
This project consisted of new construction of a 6,000 square foot mixed use, shell building located in Alpharetta, GA across Old Milton Parkway from the main entrance of Avalon, one of the Atlanta area’s most vibrant premier mixed-use developments. The two tenant spaces were later built out for Troy University’s Atlanta support center and LGE Community Credit Union’s Alpharetta branch office.
The building is type 2-B construction, business occupancy classification. The building foundation system consists of a slab on grade and shallow foundations, including a cast-in-place foundation/retaining wall at the rear of the building where the grade of the lot slopes down. The vertical framing consists of CMU bearing walls and structural steel columns, and the roof framing consists of wide flange steel beams, open web steel joists, and steel roof decking. The lateral force resisting system for the building consists of a combination of CMU shear walls, and structural steel moment frames and braced frames.
Erudite Engineers served as the Structural Engineer of Record for the project, performing structural design from schematic design through production of construction drawings, and performing construction administration including site visits for construction observation.
